CONTEXT
Jiu-Jitsu demands precision and careful attention to numerous small details in order for athletes to execute their techniques effectively. Athletes improve by investing significant time and effort into studying new techniques, drilling to refine their skills and sparring to apply their techniques in competition.
THE CHALLENGE
For serious Jiu Jitsu athletes who want to accelerate their skill development, it’s not enough to simply train more: not everyone can train all day, and even if they could, pushing past a body’s physical limits can cause injuries.
The key lies in training smarter. Athletes need a system that transforms passive repetition into deliberate practice, where each session is intentional, focused, and tailored to their evolving needs. That means helping them identify specific performance goals, and receive timely and high quality feedback.
An effective tool must be easy to use, adapt to individual learning styles, and prevent cognitive overload by breaking down complex moves into manageable parts.

Design Solutions
Real-Time Error Tracking
A built-in fail counter helps users quickly log, track, and visualise recurring mistakes, turning individual errors into focused learning opportunities and actionable feedback.
Effortless Cross-Device Access
Responsive design and cloud syncing provide instant, seamless access to notes and study tools—whether at home, in the gym, or on the move—supporting learning anytime, anywhere.
INTRODUCING
Interactive Technique Mind-Mapping
A dynamic mind map interface enables athletes to visually organize and connect Jiu-Jitsu techniques as nodes in a knowledge graph. Users can attach insights, instructionals, and timestamped video clips to each technique, creating an intuitive and evolving personal knowledge base. This design reduces cognitive overload and supports long-term retention by mirroring how athletes naturally categorise and revisit learned concepts.
INTRODUCING
Real-Time Error Tracking
An integrated micro-tracking system lets athletes log and categorize mistakes with a simple “fail counter” for specific technique details. After training, users can quickly record missed grips, timing errors, or other issues, which the system then visualises as patterns and trends over time. This feature provides actionable insights and clear feedback, empowering athletes to focus practice on areas needing the most attention and accelerate skill refinement.
